BEM: Mobility turnaround secures jobs and sovereignty
The German eMobility Association is putting pressure on the political stage: in the midst of coalition negotiations, the association is presenting a comprehensive package of measures for the mobility transition in Germany. With a clear focus on renewable energies and sustainable value chains, the BEM is calling for a reorientation of industrial policy in order to promote technological excellence, economic stability and social prosperity. The recommendations for action should not only strengthen Germany’s position in global competition, but also enable a future-proof and socially just economy. A paradigm shift is necessary – now is the time to act decisively.
The successful conversion of the transport sector is therefore not an option, but an economic necessity. ‘Those who act now will secure new market opportunities and stable employment in a globalised economy,’ emphasises Christian Heep from the BEM Executive Board. »Germany can play a key role in the European green economy.« However, this requires targeted strategic decisions that focus on market-ready and scalable solutions.
Despite the progress made, politicians must act urgently to avoid delays and inconsistent framework conditions. BEM Board Member Markus Emmert warns urgently: »Delays jeopardise Europe’s position as a location for innovation.« This could lead to Europe losing influence internationally, especially in view of the strategic advances of other nations such as China.
