Code of Conduct

The German eMobility Association (BEM) is committed to switching to electric mobility in Germany on the basis of renewable energies. Under these conditions, electric vehicles are CO2-neutral, clean, quiet and low-emission and therefore improve the quality of urban life in particular. eMobility makes a valuable contribution to conserving fossil resources and at the same time reduces dependence on natural gas and oil imports. This objective is aligned with the German government’s plan to become the lead market and lead provider for electromobility and sustainably supports climate and environmental protection efforts.
The BEM’s tasks include improving the legal and social framework conditions for the expansion of electromobility as a sustainable, forward-looking and climate-protecting transport concept and ensuring equal opportunities for the switch to electromobility.

In order to achieve these goals, the BEM networks stakeholders from business, politics and the media, promotes public awareness of electromobility and advocates the necessary infrastructural changes.

In its sphere of activity, the BEM is guided by the general values of humanism, human dignity, equality, social and intergenerational justice and, intuitively, common sense. In addition, we are politically neutral in accordance with our articles of association and base our actions on the maxims of ethics, morality, law and sustainability. We are committed to the further expansion of renewable energies and do our utmost to support a shift in mobility towards low-emission drive concepts with a technological focus on electromobility. In doing so, we promote an intermodal transport approach, taking into account all modes of transport and focusing on fair procurement, production and trading conditions throughout the entire value chain.

In addition, we are committed to the principles set out in the ZVEI Code of Conduct, such as the rejection of corruption and child labour, compliance with labour standards and ecological responsibility. ‘We see the Code of Conduct of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers‘ Association (ZVEI) as an expression of a common set of values that we take for granted in our commitment, partnerships and project collaborations and also demand,’ says BEM Vice President Christian Heep, who hopes that all companies – especially those that publicly commit to a Code of Conduct – will behave in the same way and have their social and economic activities measured against this code.
