Habeck provides impetus for e-mobility / BEM supports long-term approaches
The Federal Ministry of Economics has presented new measures to promote electromobility. Plans include a 1,000 euro charging credit, tax incentives and social leasing models for low-income households. The focus is also on expanding the charging infrastructure and reducing the electricity tax. Economics Minister Robert Habeck emphasised: ‘Charging must become easier and cheaper. Incentives for e-cars are key to the future of the automotive industry.’
BEM board member Christian Heep sees the proposals as a first step: »The attention on the German automotive industry with its home-made problems is now focussing the debate on the future topic of electromobility – and that is a positive signal. The planned measures tend to point in the right direction and deserve support. However, it will be crucial to expand them in the long term and flank them with stable framework conditions and planning security. It is to be hoped that a future government will consistently pursue this course.«
